I’m happy to share – one my favorite drinks I’ve made year to date. This rum based cocktail, called a swizzle has many variations. Traditionally this recipe calls for pineapple juice and orange juice. However, this one uses lime juice. It reminds me of just what a great marriage rum and lime can truly be, as found in classics such as daiquiri or corn & oil. I stumbled upon this recipe and fell in love with it, especially when I realized that the recipe was coincidentally labeled as ‘Erica’s Favorite Rum Swizzle‘. It was a match made in heaven! I made a slight variation of this to match my own tastes, but I think you’ll quite enjoy my ‘Favorite Rum Swizzle’.
3 oz Dark Rum (I used El Dorado 5 year)
1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz Rose’s lime juice
1/4 oz Velvet Falernum
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker on crushed ice and using a swizzle stick (or you can shake if you don’t have a swizzle stick) vigorously mix the ingredients and serve in a tall glass over ice.
