Although its origins are vague, this is possibly one of the oldest recorded cocktails, first printed in 1862 in Jerry Thomas’ cocktail guide, possibly the first bartender guide ever.  The cognac and orgeat syrup with the additional complexity of Angostura makes a great drink.  My recommendation is to use a VS cognac on this (don’t use the good stuff) and it will make it especially enjoyable.  A good nightcap type of  boozy cocktail 🙂

1/2 oz Orgeat syrup
3 dashes Angostura
