Tequila Martini

After spending the weekend in Mexico I realized something…although I love tequila (and mezcal) I know very few cocktails which include it, other than the basic margaritas and palomas.  The other cocktails that I do know, like the Rosita, Anjeo Old Fashioned, and Mexican Firing Squad are completely unknown to your average all-inclusive resort bartender.  At that I decided to do a quick experiment with a very basic recipe, the martini, and substitute tequila.

The resulting drink is not too bad, a tequila martini has a bit more comlexity and isn’t as clean as the classic, but is a great sipper.  The orange bitters would probably be optional, depending on your personal preference for tequila.

Tequila Martini2 1/2 oz Tequila (I used 2 oz blanco and 1/2 oz Anjeo, but feel free to experiment here)
1/4 oz dry vermouth (adjust to preference)
1 dash orange bitters (optional)

Stir all ingredients over ice and strain into a martini glass and there you have it, a Tequila Martini.
