One of the many child cocktails of the Martini, the Brooklyn is the Manhattan’s more “eastern” cousin. The main changes here are adding maraschino liqueur and swapping the sweet vermouth for dry. This drink is very similar to the Manhattan in flavor however the maraschino adds a little bit more of a unique flavor while the dry vermouth keeps the sweetness leveled out. Rye helps to round this out, bourbon would work but the sweetness might be a little too much so it would be important to compensate if necessary.
2 oz Rye
1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
1/4 oz Maraschino Liqueor
A couple dashes of Angostura
Shake on ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a Luxardo cherry if you desire.
